Project Week Day 1

Submitted by wafy on

Well I decided to take a week off from work. To mainly work on the yard and a few other miscellaneous projects I have either started and need to do. I hoped to have an entry every day this week with some progress or completed project to show you. I decided today to go up and get some supplies so that laziness doesn't take hold, trying to learn to avoid those project deathtraps. (Though hopefully some family will come over and help so that will be less likely to set in.)

I picked up a shovel because there are some plants that I need to get rid of out of my garden. For those that don't know when I bought my house back in January, I inherited a very well landscaped back yard. They did a really good job, but things already starting to get over grown and a couple that just grow and spread to quickly to keep up. There is also a overhang that also needs attention before winter which I will explain later. But I am hoping to get the gardens ready for winter and possibly take care of the overhang.

I also picked up a couple other things, some that I needed and others just kind of fell into the cart as I went by, with some help from me. Couple could qualify as projects. One was a ladder shelf. The other is a thermostat.

The ladder shelf I have been eyeing for a little while and after doing some measurements and found it should fit where I wanted it I picked it up. Needed it to put a pile of gaming stuff I have had in my dining room since I moved in. I was originally planning to make a shelf myself, but as you can see my wood projects tend to go kind of slow. Besides this one fit suprisingly well and looks kind of cool. Sorry not project book for this though, I don't consider prefab furniture projects, unless I am going to mod it some how.

The thermostat on the other hand would qualify as a project and has been added under the new menu item House. It was suprisingly easy to install, the only hard part I had was programming it. But eventually figured it out, now to see if it will help my bills at all. Certianly add a more high tech look to this old house. This along with some other changes around the house should help my winter bills.

Needless to say I got a lot done and hopefully more to come this week long "work" vacation.
