It has been a hot month of June. Things are very dry and the grass is already brown. I have watered not as much as I should but what I have has helped. Today I pulled the onions because they were laying down, which have read is when it is time to harvest. If I leave them the stocks dry out and I can't find them again. They are tiny maybe a little bigger than a golf ball. It could be the combination of dry weather and not enough sun. I think I will try the other end of the garden next year and see how that goes. I also found a few green beans today and I picked the rest of the radishes. There was a Jalapeno that I am going to keep on until it gets dry veins on them, which my partner's aunt likes.
A thing I am trying this year is trimming "suckers" from tomato plants. I haven't done it yet this year until today. I removed leaves about 6-8 inches off the ground no higher than a foot. I also remove the sucker vines off the tomatoes as well. A few of the suckers seemed big enough and thick enough to try replanting them. I put 4 suckers in the ground by removing the lower leaves and burying them about 6 inches in the ground. We will see if they last until the rain on Tuesday. I might try and watering them daily to help them along. The tomato plants looks to be flowering so maybe some tomatoes soon.
Today is a beginning of another month so I watered and fertilized the gardens after I picked everything. Probably watered a bit early and should have waited until it was closer to evening. At least they are fertilized and maybe I will water again later. Everything else looks good, except the cucumbers could use some work they are pretty slow growing. I think that trellis garden needs to be taken down and maybe the trellis moved over. Either that or the birch tree that is in front of needs to be taken out. Not sure if really need that garden or not, it was a good idea at the time.
