Played an interesting game yesterday in Waseca at Event Horizons. The event guy for our 40k nights found some rules on line for a narrative Zombies vs Imperials. He modified it a bit to make it non-narrative and it turned out pretty good, and still pretty challenging. We didn't make it all the way, but the premise was we were in a building at one end of the table and the communications were knocked out and there was an artifact that turned everyone else into zombies. We needed to get to the other end of the table to a civilian communications tower and send for a pick up. Then basically try to get to the pickup point with out dying. As you go along zombies spawn based on where you are and what you did that turn. Due to time constraints we were only able to make it to the civilian tower. John, the guy running the scenario, was nice enough to have a couple of the guys that died be at the tower. With a few minor rule adjustments it was pretty good and we had a chance. Not exactly something to play during a holiday season, but it would be fun for some Friday the 13th weekend or a Halloween get together. Below are some pics I took.
The first one here is us trying to get over the bridge you can see by the buildings that we are kind of surrounded and yes those are zombie terminators. We had taken out two units of 10 zombies the turn before. We are trying to get to the trukk to get to the tower quicker.
Next one we have two of the units with us in the trukk and a small unit of guys to fight off the incoming zombies. They had a few issues fixing the trukk as the zombies got lucky and immobilized the trukk but they were able to get it started.
We all ended up in the trukk and had one scout that took a bike it was a tough fight but we made it.
