1 Down 29 more to go...

It is officially been a year since I started the slow, lengthy process of keeping a home and owning it free and clear, only 29 more years to go. It's been an educational year. Learned that shoveling the snow has some health benefits, as does pushing the lawn mower around. Also mowing your own lawn isn't as bad as mowing your parent's lawn, I think it is a pride thing. Paying a mortgage payment is about the same as trying to pay rent, but instead you are in a way saving the money instead of throwing it out.

Making up your mind when it comes to furniture is very difficult, on the other side it is really tough to find what your are looking for for furniture as well. It is nice to be in a house that isn't attached to anyone, it makes things quieter and I can be louder. Pretty much what they say about house ownership is true, so far as I tell. Found a few projects around the house to make things livable but nothing that really glares change me. There are plenty of would like to if I can figure it out or have the money for someone to do it for me. Also learned that moving back close to family doesn't necessarily mean they will come and visit. Though I did get everyone to visit at least once in the past year. In fact my parents visited more often in this last year in the entire 9 years I lived here previously. Just need to get a few more beds setup and I am sure my nieces and nephews will eventually want to stay, which will get my siblings to come over more often.

All in all it has been a good first year, hopefully the next 29 will be equally gratifying.
