It is a amazing how busy I can get when I have a local gaming store that supports miniatures. Mankato has finally gotten a store worth writing about. Unfortunately they have been keeping me busy with a new miniatures game and a escalation league to make my build, paint and play, to keep me from writing. This new stores name is The Dork Den. It is ran by a couple of great guys that are pretty into gaming and one that does have some management experience and used to work with long ago. They have been open since the beginning of July and so far seem to be doing pretty good. Definitely a place to check out if you are into gaming and happen to be in the area.
As I have said I have been working on a new army in a new system. Last year when I went to Gencon I picked up two Hordes starter boxes, Circle of Orboros and Trolllbloods. As I really like the back story of the Trollbloods and that I could only choose one army for this Journeyman league, I went with Trollbloods. The league has been stretched out a bit to instead of a weekly change of army size to being a monthly change. This has helped a lot in me getting stuff built and painted. Once I get everything painted I will get some pictures up and hopefully talk more about them.
I haven't been just playing Hordes, I have ran into a few more people in the area that play Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. I haven't gotten a lot of large games in, but have some fun people to play against. There is also a once of month Saturday that we can setup and play miniature games. Still working on a large showing of 40k and Fantasy players, but some are trickling in from time to time. I have setup a signup list to help let people know of events and help find games. I put that up last Monday, hopefully it has been well received.
Besides building Trollblood models and playing games, I also started my collection of terrain pieces and worked on the gaming board. I picked up a couple boxes of Battlefield in a Box sets for trees and rivers. I also have a couple of the Games Workshop hills. I still need to do some painting and get some flock on the hills but they have helped in a couple home games. I also started work on some 40k builds. I am attempting to try magneting them together, so far that still needs work. I was able to get the gaming board's frame finished but I still need to sand, paint and flock the panels to consider it complete. Hopefully in the next month or so I can get some of these completed once the Trollbloods are finished.
On the personal side, I finally was able to get the house painted in the beginning of September. I went with Schueneman Paint. They did a relatively good job on the house. I think the house could use a second coat, but it seems to be fine. Hopefully it will hold up for a few years until I am able to get a few other things done. I didn't have them do the garage, which also needs a paint job, as I was not sure what I want done yet.
I did end up doing my Project Vacation Week starting on Oct 9th, I apoligize for not getting my usual report. Did my usual cutting down of the garden and was able to empty one of the compost bins and added it to the right edge of the garden. I was also able to fill both bins and ended up with two extra bags of waste which I hope to add in the spring or sooner. This year I also trimmed up the bushes instead of the trees. I cut many of them way back to the point I hope they come back. I was reassured by my neighbor that they should be fine, but we will see this spring.
I have to apologize of the long wait and the long entry. I will see if I can try and do more of a monthly entry at least to make things more regular. It has been about 2 years with this blog and it seems that a few people are reading it, which is great. I am hopeful that I can continue to add things to this blog and that someone will fine it helpful, including myself. Hope to have more soon.
