I do still have the pond and about 5 years ago I even replaced the liner and dug it deep enough to keep plants and fish in it over the winter. The dimensions are pretty much the same, just now it is about 24" deep now. For the most part following the flyers that I got from Drummers seem to have helped for the most part. Though adding fish did cause a little bit of an issue, but mainly because we added too many.
So the fish we got about 4 years ago, we started with about 9 Goldfish and 2 Koi. The Koi did well the first year, unfortunately we eventually lost them mostly during the winter. The goldfish we lost one or two, but they reproduced starting 2 years ago. We had about 6 babies last year, I ended up reducing the number of fish in the pond to 6 of of the bigger fish.
So I am bring back this journal and hope I don't put it off for 7 years for another entry. I am going to change the format a bit though. I am just going to make entries about clean out and close down. I will make comments about the year.
4/24 - Spring Clean out. This year we had about 20 or so babies. I took the babies and 2 of the bigger fish to Petco. We are now down to 4 goldfish, so we will see if we still have pairs or not. Trimmed back the roots on the water lily pot that survived. The newer heater seemed to work well, this winter. Due to the slow leak last year, I added strip patches to the folds in the lower pond liner.
