This spring we ended up rebuilding the pond again. The old liner was having a leak issue that I could not find to fix. We were lazy and put the new liner over the old one. Probably not the best idea, but was under a time crunch to get the pond up and running before the fish had any issues. I am thinking once this liner has issues, it might be time to fill in the hole and do something else there. Ponds are a lot of work, and there isn't that much interest in the household to keep it going. Given I spent some money on it this year, I figured I would give it a couple more years. We did this rebuild over Memorial Day weekend.
I went with a different brand liner this time around. I went to Mill's Fleet Farm to get a Tetra liner. I ended up with the 14'x21' linear that seems to be able to span upper and lower pond. This linear is more rubbery than the previous one, which I am not sure how well it will hold up to the winter and summer changes. I tried a smaller linear that I had from the last time I put in a liner from TotalPond. Given the old liner lasted for about 7 year, I think that was still pretty good. The only issue I had was that it was too small.
Kept 3 fish this year, as of this writing (10/1) there are at least 3 or more baby fish in there. They seem to hold up pretty good. I will be looking at getting things turned down towards the middle of the month. With the weather like it is I don't expect any large amount of snow or ice for a couple months.
Here are couple pictures I took of the pond after we were finished
