Started garlic and possibly onions. I did a lot more this time around, because there are so many things I want to try, both for the scapes and for the bulbs. I planted a total of 40 cloves of garlic. The last time I did that or at least close to it, I didn't do anything with them. I didn't even attempt to replant like I did this year. They ended up just hanging because the one person in my life decided to cook and never used them. So next year should be fun in the realm of garlic. Anyways, I did put down a light dusting of bone meal before closing the rows up. It should help with the root growth from what I have read.
As for the onions, I am very doubtful they will make it through the winter. I probably could have planted them earlier to where they might get a bulb, but even the ones I kept in the garden probably will be eaten by rabbits or squirrels. I am really hoping they do and provide an early harvest of onions. I will probably try starting them again next year as early as I can, maybe try and find a hardier version that might let me transplant them outside early. I also dusted them with bone meal to help with the root growth.
I have learned so much this year, in the realm of the garden. Hope to add my thoughts in the next and last entry of the year, which should be sometime in October.
