Project Week Fall 2011: Day 3 & 4

Submitted by wafy on

Things are started to look ready for winter. I took the hardy water littles that I had in the pond and took them out of their pots and removed any roots that it still had and put them in a bucket of water. We will see if that will keep them over the winter or not. Come this spring when I repot some other plants I will probably try and repot those bulbs as well.

Project Week Fall 2011: Day 2

Submitted by wafy on

Well another productive day. I was able to get the last garden torn down and even remove a plant. I removed my Russian Sage bush, it was getting too big for where it was at and it looks like it was ready to sprout in places I didn't want. So I have another one to watch for next spring.

Project Week Fall 2011: Day 1

Submitted by wafy on

Well Fall is upon us again and I again have an abuntant amount of PTO left. So I figured I would do that same as I did last year and tear down the gardens. Seem to work out pretty good last year and everything came back as suspected. I didn't do the root splitting this past spring, but I am still going to hold out until spring to do any root splitting. This year I am also hoping to compost most of the waste, assuming I get my second composter in time. Below for you visual enjoyment is what I was able to clean up today.

Games Day and Gencon....

Submitted by wafy on

The last two weeks have been pretty busy for me. Did a little traveling to Chicago for Games Day, then spent about 3 days with some family and then 4 days of fun at Gencon. Over all it was pretty fun in all 3 places.

Games Day, saw some pretty cool models and game boards. Spent some money on some terrain and a few minis, which I hope to have put together and painted by spring. I doubt that is going to happen, but heres to hoping.

Warhammer 40k Tournament in Duluth...

Submitted by wafy on

Made a run to Duluth to Dragon Port Games and Comics yesterday for a 2000 point Warhammer 40k tournament. Went 0-2-1 (W-L-D), which as kind of expected. The orks had a few issues with the dice and went up against some semi-tough armies. I think just need more tank killers, like more kopters or something. I have attached a copy of my list. For the most part it works, I just need more strategy. I have a list that has another unit of kopters instead of the shoota boy sqaud in a trukk. It does a bit better, but I wanted all of the units painted or at least mostly painted.

More garden work...

Submitted by wafy on

Well the garden is planted and mostly weeded. Still need to do some work in splitting some root balls and getting rid of more plants. I think it is good for now, might wait until fall to split some these down and just let them grow for now. I also added some vegetable plants to the flower garden, we shall see how that works.

Things are working better...

Added another journal entry to my Vegetable garden "book" and reorganized the book a bit to be an actual book. At least it is easier to go through and see what is available, though I am not sure I like the format yet. I need to play a bit more and see what else I can come up with.

Got some painting done...

Submitted by wafy on

Only took me 3 months to find time to do it but they are enough there to be presentable. Needs some detail work, but that is going to have to wait until I can get a few other things ready for a Gladiator Army list painted and/or built.  Hoping to get more things built and painted by the beginning of April to make Adapticon but we will have to wait and see.
