Garage 2013

Submitted by wafy on

Well, after 3 years here I finally got enough money and inpiration to get the garage worked on. In this set of pages I hope to chronicle the destruction and construction of this building and hopefullying give other people ideas on what they want to do. For me the only thoughts that I had was if I going to fix the garage up I might as well look at building a new and bigger one.

The garage I have/had was a smallish single car garage, with a flip door for the garage door and a front service door. Inside there were a number of shelves and a cabinet that were made of just about anything. I also have an overhang on one side which is setup for a porch like sitting. Here there is my pond and the outer wall has a metal punch out leftover used to hold up a english rose vine. It was a nice garage and it needed some of the wood siding replaced do to being water logged. There was couple rafter boards that needed re-enforced. By the end the garage door opener's main gear was stripped and one the the springs on the door was busted.

For probably about thousand or two, I probably could have gotten some new siding and fixed some of the trim. It was a usuable garage, but lacked some of the things that would make it a great garage. When and if I find time I do like wood working and one the many reasons I wanted a house. With this bigger garage I will have room to put a small workshop instead of taking up room in the basement. Though some work will be done down there as well. Also I am going to have a "smurf" tube ran from the house to the garage, since this is a detached garage, so I can run other cables down the road as I see fit. I am hoping to put in a couple miscellaneous outlets in the garage to run ethernet or cable out there. In the end it will be a fully finished and insulated garage. The over hang will be removed except the outer wall which I am keeping, and something different will be built. It will still be a porch like setting, with a different kind of roof. I am also getting a new driveway in the processes as well, which right now is in pretty rough shape.

In this book of pages I hope to show the before, during and after pictures and explain any thing that is going on. With any luck it will all be done by the end of October, but as along as I at least get a garage before the snow flies I will be happy.
